Its seems odd to me that John Deere would not make the JD 4500 available in a hydrostatic transmission, any one know why? Also can anyone tell me exactly what the term DTAC stands for exactly?

The 4500 is 33pto hp with the 12x12 power reverser transmission. If it had a hydro trans. then the hp would drop to 31 to 31.5 hp. This being said the 4400 has 28.5 hp at the pto with the hydro trans. They would be so close in power that Deere felt like the consumer needed to go to the 4600 hydro to see a noticable power difference. Remember, the 4500 is also carrying an additional 500 lbs. of weight.
dtac stands for dealer technical assistance center. It links Deere's troubleshooters to the service departments of every Deere dealership. ....

I have been pricing them and the 4400 & FEL was $20,500, the 4500 was $21,000. The larger frame on the 4500 boosts the FEL lift from 1240# to 2400#. ....
